MELISSA EVANS
Founder & Director | Math Specialist & Academic Success Coach
Melissa Evans is the Founder and Director of Akasha Academics, where she has spent the past 14 years helping students build confidence, master challenging subjects, and achieve their academic goals. With more than 20 years of experience in education, Melissa combines exceptional teaching expertise with a personalized approach that empowers every student to reach their full potential.
Throughout her career, Melissa has been recognized for excellence in education. She was honored as Teacher of the Year at her middle school in 2009 and was named Broward County Middle School Math Teacher of the Year in 2011.
Melissa earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Pennsylvania State University and her Master’s Degree in the Science of Teaching Mathematics through a National Science Foundation (NSF) partnership with Florida Atlantic University.
Under Melissa’s leadership, Akasha Academics has become known for its individualized instruction, small learning environment, and commitment to meeting each student where they are academically. Whether students are strengthening foundational skills, preparing for the SAT or ACT, recovering credits, or pursuing an accelerated graduation path, Melissa is passionate about helping every learner discover confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning.
ROSEMARY
Learning Coach l Engineer l Private Tutor
Rosemary brings a unique blend of academic expertise, real world experience, and compassionate instruction to Akasha Academics. With an extensive background in mathematics, science, and technology, she is passionate about helping students build confidence while developing the skills they need to succeed both in and beyond the classroom.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry from C.W. Post College in New York and a Master of Science in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Before pursuing her passion for education, Rosemary worked for 12 years as a software engineer, where she developed strong analytical and problem solving skills that continue to benefit her students today.
After transitioning into education, Rosemary homeschooled her own children while tutoring students and teaching a wide range of subjects. Her experience includes all levels of mathematics, high school chemistry, language arts, SAT and ACT test preparation, and supporting students enrolled in various online learning platforms.
Throughout her career, Rosemary has taught and mentored students in private schools, alternative education programs, and residential behavioral and substance abuse rehabilitation facilities. Her patient, encouraging approach allows her to connect with learners of all backgrounds and abilities, helping each student gain confidence, overcome challenges, and achieve lasting academic success.
ALVARO
Learning Coach & Spanish Tutor
Alvaro is a God loving family man, passionate about teaching, and believes in the power of personalized education. He has a BS in Business Administration (Northern International University). He is committed to providing support and encouragement to his students and loves helping them navigate the curriculum, manage their time effectively, and celebrate their unique learning styles. He has been tutoring Math as well as reading and writing in both Spanish and English. He worked as a banker for 18 years, has been an entrepreneur, and has helped others start their own businesses and find their passion. That is why he prioritizes focusing on each student's strengths without neglecting areas that need reinforcement.
We believe that with the proper tools, preparation and mindset, every child has the potential for academic success.
Akasha Academics was founded in 2012 with the dream of changing education for the better.
